The Hydro-Action® System

A scaled-down version of a municipal sewage treatment plant — Hydro-Action's Aerobic Treatment Unit (ATU) cleans wastewater the way nature does, using oxygen instead of chemicals or filters.

Why Hydro-Action

A Smarter Onsite Treatment System

It's estimated that conventional septic systems are unsuitable for roughly two-thirds of all land area in the U.S. In many areas, even existing systems create serious user and ecological problems. Hydro-Action was designed specifically to meet these challenges — producing cleaner effluent more efficiently, even in areas with sensitive land issues and leach field complications.

Meet the Aerobic Treatment Unit (ATU), the heart of the system. Just as waste breaks down organically from air, the aerobic bacterial action in the ATU uses oxygen to treat wastewater — a common-sense, green technology that saves time, money and hassle.

How It Works

From Wastewater to Clear, Odorless Effluent

1. Pretreatment

Wastewater passes through the septic tank first, reducing solids before entering the ATU.

2. Aeration

A pump injects air through diffuser assemblies — aerobic bacteria multiply and clean the wastewater without chemicals.

3. Clarification

Oxygenated effluent enters a conical clarification chamber that separates clarified water from remaining solids.

4. Dispersal

Clear, odorless effluent moves to a dosing or pump tank for drip-line or drain-field dispersal — no biomatting.

Hydro-Action AN Series Aerobic Treatment Unit for nitrogen reduction
Certified Performance

Tested to ANSI/NSF Standards

  • AP Series — certified under ANSI/NSF Standard 40 for Class 1 effluent, with 30-day average effluent CBOD5 of 9 mg/L.
  • AN Series — certified under NSF/ANSI Standard 245 for nitrogen reduction, achieving a 58% reduction in influent Total Nitrogen.
  • Both series meet strict requirements for noise level, color, odor, oily film and foam.
  • The OPS® operations control center alerts you visually and audibly if the system floods or air pressure drops.
