Heading south for the winter? A burst pipe while you're away can cost thousands. Let us winterize your home so you can leave with peace of mind.
In a cold winter climate like New York, you can't just leave your home all winter with no heat — the pipes will freeze and possibly burst. If the temperature inside drops below 32°F, supply lines and drain traps are likely to freeze. Water expands about 9% as it freezes, and with nowhere to go, pipes can burst. When the ice thaws, that pipe will leak — anywhere in the system — and a burst pipe can easily cause thousands of dollars in damage.
We shut off your water supply at the curb stop outside your home. No curb stop? We shut off the interior valve and install heat tape from the valve to the building entry. All supply lines are drained by gravity, with the rest blown out with air. Appliances like dishwashers, washing machines and ice makers are drained too — plus the hot water heater and boiler (with RV anti-freeze added where needed).
Traps and drain lines are often overlooked — every sink, toilet, and washing machine has one. We fill all traps with biodegradable RV anti-freeze, safe for all appliances, so nothing is left to freeze while you're away.
If your home has a well instead of municipal water, we'll shut the well down and drain the pressure tank as part of the process.
Schedule your winterizing appointment before the first freeze.
